This litter is still an amazingly civil bunch of pups.  They keep a clean pen, mind their manners in the house, are quiet in the morning, and are easy to manage outside.  We have been busy providing new experiences - solo outings to new parts of the yard, walks back from a neighbor's house on leash, and introduction to clicker training.  This coming week, there are a couple of planned therapy dog visits and an ICAN Golf Outing.  At the end of the week, the pups will be leaving my house to continue their journey as assistance dogs in training.

At 7 weeks, I transitioned to hard puppy kibble with a bit of water added immediately before feeding.  These pups love their chow, but are still trying to figure out this hard crunchy stuff.  With limit feeding, I managed to slow down their weight gain to around 1 lb last week.  Weights ranged from 8 lbs 9 oz (Little Guy) to 9 lbs 4 oz (Cory)

Ali - siesta time

6 weeks old

We are starting to take the pups out for little adventures in pairs to build confidence and provide additional socialization.  They have had a number of visitors this week.  The pups love their puppy kibble, eagerly run to the crates to see if it is feeding time.  Pups gained over 1 1/2 lbs last week and Little Guy has almost caught up, within one ounce of his sister Ali.  Weights ranged from 8 lbs (Little Guy) to 8 lbs 10 oz (Oz).

Socializing with kids

An ICAN volunteer came over with her grandchildren, and the pups were able to meet young children for the first time.

A very busy week.  The pups spent July 4th weekend with Alpine's family.  Not only did they adapt to a new environment, but also got a couple of car rides.  Lots of outdoor play time - the weather has been amazing.  The pups know the way from the pen to the back porch and are doing a great job doing most of their daytime toileting outside.  I brought out the wading pool and the pups have been tentatively giving it a try.  Pups are being fed individually so that helps equal out sizes.  I am limit feeding the big pups and giving extra to Little Guy.  Pups gained over 1 lb last week, and Little Guy gained at least 1/2 lb more than everyone else gaining 1 lb 14 oz.  He is now only 3 oz smaller than Willa.  Weights ranged from 6 lb 4 oz (Little Guy) to 7 lbs (Oz).

The pups have not yet learned how to get up on the porch
